Hello everyone, I've had a lot of crazy things going on in my life lately. I'm going to start with the bad news and make my way to the good news
First off, I broke my ankle a couple weeks ago. It really sucked and was the third time I broke that ankle. I ended up tearing one of my ligaments as well, so my recovery time is going to be a minimum of three months WITH physical therapy. It's going to put a lot of my sexy cosplays on hold, since I can't workout until I get the clear from my sports doctor. As far as my cosplays are concerned, I'm not going to have many funds for making elaborate things, since I have to be a responsible adult and allocate my money to other places, like paying my new found medical bills. With this being said, I have enough fabric to make about four new cosplays between now and the spring; however, with my ankle being the way it is, I can't get in the physical shape necessary to cosplay some of the characters I was planning, like Cassie Sandsmark.
Since I will need to be buying new materials come 2015 in order to keep up my cosplay production, I'm going to start selling prints in the late Autumn to Christmas season. I'm going to do them through a Storenvy account I'm working on, and I will be accepting purchases via preorder only. I already have the rights to the photos from the photographers, and I'm currently working on logistics in order to get the highest quality with the most economical pricing for my potential buyers
I know that buying prints is more of an unnecessary purchase for most cosplay fans; you can just look at our pictures online for free. But buying prints is a great way to support a cosplayer who you are a fan of (not necessarily referring to myself, but any cosplayer you enjoy photo browsing of). If you want to support my cosplay, buy a print or two, and I will be the happiest nerdy girl EVER. The profit is directly going to self sustaining my cosplay hobby, so I can make more of those super elaborate and awesome costumes that I don't have the money for otherwise!
Because of my ankle (everything is tying back to this lol), I'm not going to come out with a new cosplay for the rest of the year; I need to focus on getting my finances, life, and health back on track. I am however, making an adorable Gengar kigurumi, and will probably get a couple derp photos of that. I also have been working on a huge cosplay project over this summer. I'm partnering up with Conley Craftsman Fantasy Arms to recreate the Nightingale Armor from the Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. I'm making two matching sets of this armor, and the Conleys are making the Nightingale Blade, Bow, and whatever else I'm able to carry at a con lol. The armor is being made out of antique alligator leather, which they supplied, and the weapons are made out of a combination of black walnut wood, cherry wood, and metal. Needless to say, I am putting a lot of my time and effort into this collaboration, seeing as how just the materials alone cost several hundred dollar. I have about half of my personal armor set completed, and when I put on the armor pieces, I literally feel like the biggest badass on Earth haha. A really cool thing about this costume is that since it's being made out of leather, it's water proof and resistant. I'm literally planning on getting a photo of me being super badass and jumping off of a waterfall in it come spring time. I was going to do something like that earlier this summer with another cosplay, but life got in the way 0_0
Lastly, the really, super cool news I have is that I have a feature article in We Rise Magazine this month! I did a shoot with the photography crew both in Chicago and Connecticut this summer, and they decided to do a two page spread of my cosplay work this year! It is featuring my Skyrim and Black Cat cosplays. I'm going to take all of the instagram photos of the article when I get the magazine in the mail in a couple weeks
